We’re on the same team

Like most vendors in the space, we are typically dealing with large cases that have a high level of stress and anxiety.  It always amazes me when clients, however right or wrong they are, take to using the vendor as a pin cushion.  For some reason it is “right” to blame the vendor and we take the heat for things that are mostly out of our control.

I realize, when cases involving clients who have millions at stake, it’s a high stakes battle and it’s easy to forget that we are on the same team.  We (the collective we) are not out to try and make your lives harder, nor are we deliberately “screwing up”.  There are lots of companies in our space that have worked hard to build the best products for the market trying to make lit-support easier.  There are lots of engineers working to make your problems not problems.  I’m not  saying that we’re not here to help, we are, and if it’s our fault we are committed to fixing it and making it better no matter what the cost.

What I am trying to remind everyone, who is engaging a vendor for a project, the goal is to be on the same team.   The client isn’t always right, neither is the vendor, but we’re on the same team.  I think it’s a good expectation to set.
